Hello, Does the Historical society have anything as far as research material for genealogical purposes? I have Cooksey and Earp connections
Lee
Most of our genealogical materials have been taken to the Ohio County Library’s Geneaology Annex. I know we did have information on the Earps. I would try there first but if you can’t find what you need there we may still have some materials.
Greetings!
I’m trying to find information (any old photos, articles, or newspaper ads) on an old dance band in the Ohio Co. vicinity that went by the name of “Faught’s Entertainers,” which was led by a drummer (and coal miner by trade), Forrest “Boots” Faught, who was born in Ohio Co., KY, Sept 9, 1902, where he also died on Sept 9, 1981. He’s buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Hartford, KY. His parents were Harlan Faught & Cora Lee Rowe. He was married to Mae Sandefur and their children were Jo Ann, Betty & Janice Faught.
Several very well-known Bluegrass Musicians played in Faught’s Entertainers – Arnold Schultz, who was one of Bill Monroe’s premier influences and mentors, as well as Tex Atchinson.
I’m doing research on the History of Drums & Percussion in Old Time Music.
Many thanks in advance!
God Bless.
